Make sure you have the internet settings installed in your phone, then go to www.hanashi.nu and specify your phone number or open your phone's web browser in www.hanashi.nu and directly download the application or send an sms to +447786208247 and write Hanashi.
You could also be invited by a friend or colleague directly from the application.
Also, you can in hanashi.nu download Hanashi to your computer and then by use of the USB cable move the two files, Jad and Jar over to your phone.
Invite a friend
Move to the contact list (the tab with the phonebook icon) by using the left/right button
On top, press Send Hanashi Invitation
When requested to Add a contact, either print the phone number directly OR choose alternatives, select and add directly from your phonebook.
Then you will find a prewritten SMS Invitation which you can either use or rewrite and then Send
After the invited person has downloaded, enjoy the service
Finding the application in your phone
In a Sony Ericsson Mobile you will find the application under Organiser and then Applications (or games if you have chosen so). However, please note that in versions up to 3.6.0 it is called SERC IM. Just click on the program and it starts automatically.
In Nokia phones you will normally find Hanashi under Applications.
Setting up a chat with your friend AFTER the invitation above
Start the application as described above if not already started. If you want to start a chat with someone you previously have chatted with, move to the contact list and use the up/down button to mark the selected person (or phone number) and then select. You will automatically open up a chat dialogue and you can start communicating. To send a message, click on Write and type your message and then click on Send. You will then see a new bubble with the typed message sent to your friend.
When you are in the Edit mode, typing a message, you can also click on Options and Add a symbol, smiley.
Sending a camera picture
When in the chat dialogue, choose More and camera. Take the picture and Send. In the chat dialogue, you will see when the receiver has accepted to watch your picture.
Receiving a picture from your friend
If your friend sends you a picture, you will be asked if you want to receive it. If you accept, you will after a short while you see the picture in full screen.
Sending a Voice message
When in the chat tab with your friend, press * and record you voice message to your friend.
Receiving a Voice message
You will receive a text asking you to download when someone wants to send a voice message to you. If you click OK you will listen to that message. If you Choose Always, all incoming voice messages from that person will be played automatically.
When someone contacts you in Hanashi
If your Hanashi application is turned off, you will get a message on your screen that someone (indicated by name or phone number) will like to chat with you. Then you can either press Continue which means that Hanashi is started and you will se the incoming message in the chat dialogue or if you choose Not now, you can at a later moment start the application and look at the incoming message.
Position
In order to show your OWN position to others, you will need to allow that for every individual. As default, no-one can see you position! Move to the contact list and mark the selected person (or phone number). Choose Alternatives and Allow position. At a later stage, you can Deny position for the same person.
If you want to see your friends position and they have allowed you, move to the contact list and mark (stop at) the selected person (or phone number). After a short while, you will see Checking position and eventually the position marked as a geographical name. See also next section, "Map".
It also work when someone contacts you with a voice message, but then you press OK to get connected.
Map
If a person in your contact list allows you to see his position (se above), then you can also see his position on a map.
First you choose the person as described in "Position" above so you can see his position.
Now, move down one step and select Map. The map will be shown on your phone. You can zoom in and out with "1" and "3".

When you have your friends position on a map, click My pos and you will on the same map see yourself
Contacts with Hanashi
If you click on Contacts with Hanashi in the contact list, your phone book will be searched to see if any of them have used Hanashi. If so, you get a list and can simply add them to your contact list
Contacts of contacts
If you click on Contacts of contacts in the contact list, you will find the contacts of your own contacts in a list. When you add someone of these contacts, they will be requested for acceptance.
The clock
In the Contact List or the Home Tab, you have a clock up to the left. You set the time format under the Home Tab.
Twitter integration
In the home tab / Twitter you specify your user name and password in Twitter.
When you then change you presence text (on top of Home tab), this text will be visible as status in Twitter. When you update your status in Twitter, it will be visible as presence text in Hanashi.
Enlarging a friend`s picture
When you stop on a friends name in the contact list for more than 1 second and then with the cursor go left, you will see that the picture is marked. Then click on Open below. The picture is enlarged.
Home Tab
Under Home tab you specify and see your own picture, presence text (what others can see), Data and Power Save, Statistics and Settings.
Data and Power Save / Smart Mode
You specify the Smart mode under the Home Tab and Data and Power Save with an adjustable timer. In Smart mode when the timer elapses, Hanashi will go into sleep mode (offline) and thereby saving battery and data traffic. This is indicated by an icon on the screen with ZZZ.
Data traffic control
You specify Data traffic control under Settings in the home tab. You set a value for data consumption and notification. When Hanashi has reached that limit, you get an indication on the screen.
Settings
You can in the home tab choose Settings. Here you can specify Usage of GPS for positioning, Data Traffic Control, Time Format for the clock, your name in the Top List, Presence and Message sound, Sort order for your contacts, and the skin (colour).
Make a call from Hanashi
If you want to call a person in your contact list, simply mark that person and choose Alternatives and Call.
The web client
If you want to continue chatting from the pc when you are in your office or at home then make sure you have Hanashi started. Browse with your pc to www.hanashi.nu. Here you are requested to type your phone number in international format. Then press Go.
At the pc you will see a key code of 4 digits and simultaneously a new window is opened up in your phone where you should type this 4 digit code and verify. After that, Hanashi is opened up at your PC and you can continue sending messages, pictures and also to administrate your settings.
Some important icons/signs
When you have Hanashi started AND you see an over-crossed base station, this means that you have no connection to the mobile internet.
The icon looking like a parabol antenna means that you have transferred Hanashi to the web client as described above.
When sending a message and it is light grey, it means that it might not have been received by the other party.
